- Tens of thousands of worlds are nothing compared to the implied size of the Imperium. After all, the Imperium, by definition includes all humanity (and kills with fire those disagreeing), which is second most numerous and prosperous race in the Galaxy after the Orkz — and their numbers are simply mindboggling. Fully mobilized Imperium would curbstomp everybody.
- The Imperium claims to be comprised out of the sum total of the human race. In reality, there are hundreds of worlds which are independent from it, and a fair percentage of humanity serves Chaos. And yes, the Imperium can field trillions of troops, but the Orks can match that and the tyrandids can field trillions more, the Forces of Chaos are technically infinite. The Imperium itself is hopelessly corrupt and inefficient, though it still occupies more than half the galaxy. Humans could win if some the Primarchs returned or there was a major reformation, but the Imperium and the Mechanicus are doomed.
