bluenihil: If anyone remembers that youma-controlling kid's name from The Twelve Kingdoms, feel free to insert it. Can't for the life of me recall, and it's been a bit.

Seth: If i remember correctly Enki named him after his own Hourai name so it might be Rokuta. Then again that might have been what the Youma was called.

Jinx: That's one interpretation of the guy. However, I think his boss was just maintaining plausable deniability and really knew perfectly well what was going on. Remember this guy was both slimy and couldn't face the fact that he could make mistakes. He needed a patsy to blame if anything went wrong.

Shire Nomad: I'm not sure Saul Tigh counts. Certainly he's not trying to pull Adama down to his level... in fact, I think he admires, even envies, Adama's ability to remain purer than him. He'd probably try to follow more closely in Adama's footsteps if he had the moral strength to do so, but he keeps falling to temptation or failing to find the better option. And he regrets it afterward every time.

Earnest: Ellen Tight, on the other hand...

"This character is often used when writers don't want to stain the \"innocent\" master's hands but still need a way to deal with those pesky defeated enemies." This sentence alone sounds like Wolfwood from Trigun, since on at least two occasions he killed Gung-Ho Guns on Vash's behalf, but he isn't really portrayed as poisonous or obsessive in any way.

Jan's mom killing Monster Ann on Jan's behalf in I Love Bees and Sherry Palmer's killing Alan Milliken in {{24}} season 3 are also close-but-not-quite examples. —Document N

Daibhid C: I'm not sure the Punisher example counts. Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it sounds to me more like Microchip has stopped being the Punisher's friend, rather than being his friend while doing things - for Frank's sake - that he'd disaprove of.
