Was "When will we get the fireworks factory"

Silent Hunter: Surely this duplicates Filler? A merger might be a good idea.

Seth: Seconded

Ack Sed: I think they ''are' separate. Padding has little to no point or plot and is used to dilute the main story. Filler is used to bridge the gap and extend the series by introducing new material. To put it another way, padding is paint thinner and filler is Polyfilla.

That Other 1 Dude: But the problems is the examples seem to use the terms interchangeably. Also, the thing about Naruto falls under Midstrike Monologue.

Shale: Is there any workable way to fit the last panel of this strip in as a page image?

Lovecraft In Brooklyn: The 2001 example isn't padding. Its people utterly missing the point of the film. Can it be deleted?

tbarrie: Removed the following from Lord of the Rings

as it's nonsensical, and arguably natter. (I've never seen an edition which had sections literally written in purple ink, and while Tom Bombadil may be a superb example, how could he possibly the trope namer for a trope named "padding"?)
Does using that theme from Space Odyssey count as a form of padding, too?
I thought a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment is also a film-lengthening device?
