Epiblast: I'm still not entirely sure if I've made the scope of this article too narrow. Should it cover all electric projectile weapons, or should it only cover those that ignore the way electricity actually works? Currently I've hedged by adding a section for partial examples and subversions.

Now that I look at the examples for Shock and Awe, perhaps this should be merged into it. I was under the impression that Shock and Awe applied solely to the Elemental Powers version of this, but the examples seem to say otherwise.

Morkais Chosen: Deleted a reference to the Warhammer 40 K Shokk Attack Gun, it's something completely different. Namely a gun that teleports snotlings into the enemy.
Morkais Chosen: I think the main body of the text gets some physics slightly wrong, unless it's a difference in terminology I'm not aware of- you actually just need a positive thing OR a negative thing, and one thing with a different charge (it can be neutral, or even a smaller positive or negative charge). The important thing is that there's a difference. In fact, one of the basic examples- lightning- is movement of charge from a negatively-charged cloud base to the (neutral) ground.

Epiblast: Actually, you might be right there; electricity and magnetism has never been my strong suit. That said, I thought lightning required a certain amount of build-up of positive charge in the ground before a strike can take place.

Would Samus's Wave Cannon count? In-game descriptors give it an electricity-based stun effect.
And also Ratchet's Plasma Coil/Storm (especially the Storm version) in Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal? (<opinion>Sweet weapon!</opinion>)
From YKTTW Working Title: Lightning Gun
Count Dorku: Cut due to repetition:
  • Some ships in R-Type have something called the (Bounce) Lightning Wave Cannon.
We've all been guilty of adding an example that's already there; this is just the first time I've seen it on the bullet directly before the first time it was mentioned.
