Ununnilium: Inu Yasha mostly takes place in a fantasy version of the Sengoku period, right?

Sukeban: Wikipedia says so, but I'm not that knowledgeable about the series.

zinfandel: I think this entry needs a major tune-up. While it's pretty cool to have the examples listed under their respective eras, we should probably narrow them down to two notable movies and two notable anime for each one. I'd also like to get a list of already existing tropes this genre frequently demonstrates.

Chris X: The Sengoku era is quite rife with some historical events that may be tropable and such. I do say that we should start listing tropes related to the events about the Sengoku era. If possible, the Edo era as well.

Bluehawk2008: Could not films about the Second World War like The Burmese Harp or Letters from Iwo Jima also constitute Jidai Geki, since they are firmly grounded in a period of history (Early, Militarist Showa era)?
