Major Major: I like the trope, especially (3), but if you're going to include in the description a claim that the "setting is generally realistic", it'd be nice to see at an example that is, well, placed in a generally realistic setting. IMHO the only thing approaching that is the Zorro examples. There must be a few more out there?

Gentlemen396: "Examples of all three types" doesn't allow for mixes of any two. I'm going to change it to "examples of multiple types" to be more inclusive.

Fallingwater: how exactly do you build your character into the ultimate Jedi gunslinger in KOTOR?

Revolos55: I cut the Inigo Montoya entry:

  • I am quite sure Inigo Montoya fits somewhere into this trope. If you killed his father you should prepare to die.

There are no bullets in the movie, no clothes cutting, no razor wind, no diagonal, and no BFS. And I think the fact that he spent nearly a couple decades practicing the sword for several hours a day makes his fencing skills pretty damn plausible, Flynning aside.

This should be called "Improbable Fencing Skills" to fit with the dozen or so other Improbable X Skills tropes we have. One called Implausible Powers vs. ten or twelve others called Improbable Skills is just damn confusing. Only problem is...I don't know how to make redirects or edit page titles, so if someone wouldn't mind...

Zaranthan: I trimmed the Natter from the V for Vendetta example. It was ten guys with semi-autos, not assault rifles. They also did not jam, they were reloading.
