Patsy: Removed this:

  • "Kung Fu Panda", anyone?"
    • Actually, aside from the song appearing (inevitably and humorously) in the credits, this trope really doesn't have much to do with Kung Fu Panda. The only characters ever seen with martial arts skills are the Furious Five, Tai Lung, and the two masters—and as masters of kung fu, all of them are justified in this. The only exception is Po—and while he did have only three days to learn kung fu, he started off with next to no skills, an absolute clutz and a walking Epic Failure. And his sudden mastery of martial arts is attributable more to his own inner wisdom in interpreting the "secret" of the Dragon Scroll and following Shifu's advice (using his weaknesses as strengths and turning Tai Lung's strengths against him) than a previously unrevealed aptitude. Now, if all the hapless rabbits and pigs populating the Valley of Peace suddenly broke out into perfect kung fu forms when their village was threatened, that would be this trope. It's otherwise completely averted.

...and changed the Whateley Academy example to a Justification, from an aversion.

— According to all the lyrics pages I found, it's 'those cats were fast as lightning', not 'kicks'. The 70's, dontchakno. Azaram

R Taco: Cut this bit:

  • Although Pokémon seems to subvert this, except in the case of martial artists who also happen to be Pokémon trainers. And Digimon, when they're little kids. And... actually, how common is this?
Because Pokemon battling is the martial art in Pokemon's case, and Digimon isn't really a Gotta Catch 'Em All or To Be a Master series.
