Working Title: Contest Winner Cameo: From YKTTW

Kalle: Is it worth noting that in the Simpsons example, the prize actually didn't turn out to be an animated guest appearance? I read about it on snpp.com, and they said that the prize was just a drawing of the winner with the Simpson family. Of course, someone may have already noticed that, so~ if that's the case, I'll stay quiet.

Wasn't there a South Park episode with this, some guy named Andy or something?

Grev: Someone needs to correct the TPIR example, because Days Of Our Lives is decidedly not a CBS soap.

Harvey: When Resident Evil 2 came out in America, there was a contest (advertised on the front of the box) that would have resulted in the winner having a cameo in the upcoming Resident Evil movie (that wound up not being made until 2001). I don't know if the winner actually got to cameo in the movie, three years later. Also related to Resident Evil 2: in Japan, there was a contest to name the protagonists. It's mentioned in the staff roll. It may have only applied to Elza Walker and Leon S. Kennedy, though. Perhaps the fan who named Elza was asked to name Claire when they removed Elza. I don't know if either of these are worth including in the actual article, so I'm just posting them here.

Daibhid C: Pulled the bit about Collette from the Discworld entry, because she didn't win a contest; Pterry just saw her in the earrings and decided to put her in the book.
