Shendal: The pharoah from Yu-Gi-Oh really isn't an example of this. It's stated quite clearly that the only reason he's around in the first place is to guard the Sealed Evil in a Can, and that he'd actually died to accomplish that. Once the Evil is destroyed, there's nothing to tie his spirit to the Earth anymore, and he gets to go on to the afterlife. He's more of a sentient MacGuffin, really.
