Man Called True: This has bugged me for a while. On the Dueling Shows page we have this series dismissed as a "Maria-sama ripoff with lots of Moe Moe and Fanservice''; on its own page the fanservice is called "voyeuristic and pervasive", and then there's the repeated emphasis on Schoolgirl Lesbians in the trope examples section as if it was all the show had to offer. And most recently, in Late for School, someone snidely remarked "The show does like to be thorough in its use of tropes."

Someone went to a lot of trouble to insult this series. I'd try to undo some of it, but I know someone else would put it back the way it was.

That's one thing I dislike about this site: personal opinions intrude everywhere.

Seth: I was being a little snarky with the bit about this show likes to be through but its kinda true. You can say many things about Panic but well written isnt one of them. The Schoolgirl lesbians bit is a joke and calling the fanservice voyeuristic and pervasive is a valid description if you have seen the show. I was only responsible for the bits on Late for School the reason for me saying it was thorough was because it used every variation listed in the trope description in that one scene. Ie. being thorough.

As for Maria-Sama rip off i would disagree that it is (Thus kind of agreeing with you), it has similar elements yes but they are 2 very different series and it is defiantly not a rip off. In fact you could say it "evokes Maria-sama ga Miteru in its artstyle and pacing" wait did someone say that already, i disagree with calling them duelling shows or saying one ripped off the other, they are aimed at totally different audiences.

Yes Schoolgirl Lesbians is emphasised, you know what it was also emphasised in the official description of the show and all the related advertising. THAT IS THE POINT, the series was meant to use SL as its biggest draw so jokingly repeating it in the description is both funny and valid. :p

Filby: Is this show really a Stealth Parody? To me it seems completely serious and unselfconscious about being such a Cliché Storm — which is what makes it so enjoyable, IMO.

German Troper: No, this is not Stealth Parody. This was clearly added by people who are uncomfortable with the whole Cliché Storm meets Tastes Like Diabetes setup. This show is not a parody and plays all its tropes so straight that for some people it is embarassing. For me, though, its a Guilty Pleasure.

Dentaku: Let's just mention the possibility that it's a Stealth Parody and state that the opinions about it differ. The thing with a cleverly executed Stealth Parody is that it is ... well... stealthy. On a personal note: I don't think the show is that bad at all, since the makers manage to pull off the Tear Jerker material quite proficiently. I still think the scene in the summer house is genuinely sad.

German Troper: I'm still in favour of taking the Stealth Parody Wiki word out of EITHER the main text OR the trope list. Just my two cents.

Kamino Neko: Come now, Man Called True...I adore the series myself, but it really does have a 'ticking off the tropes' feel to it. It's part of the series charm and doesn't strike me as an insult, be it a Stealth Parody or no. (Nor is it a Maria-sama rip, IMO. It lifts a few elements directly, but mostly the sort of thing that reads more as a reference to an influential example of the genre it's playing in, than a rip-off.)

Davies: I count three couples who had off-screen sex, not just one. Kaname/Monomi, Shizuma/Kaori, and (pretty clearly implied by their naked wake-up) Hikari/Amane.
