If you've been reading the entries on TV Tropes about Sakura Haruno, you've probably picked up that she's not a very popular character, to put it mildly. I never really hated her character, but I was always pretty ambivalent. There were a few moments in the series when I felt for her, but on the whole she didn't make much of an impression.
After reading this book, I realized part of reason why; Sakura had a comparatively limited role in the main series. She didn't have much of a major fight after Sasori, which was about 1/3 of the way through the series, and she didn't have a major role in most arcs in part II. And the reason I realized this is because after reading this book, which avoids those issues, I actually like Sakura.
Sakura's the main heroine here, so she's more active. She develops some more personal goals, like starting a therapy center for children. She ties her feelings to Sasuke into the rest of her character in a way that actually sounds impressive. She defeats the Big Bad by herself, by using her powers cleverly and manages to trick him twice.
This is a fun story. If you really don't like Sakura, it may not change your mind, but I think this story is worth reading.
Literature My favorite take on Sakura
