Since the truly annoying OC is the only thing that separates this fic from the movie, I'll just list my grievances against her and be done with it.
Copy Cat Sue: A redheaded Viking with green eyes, a distaste for violence, a snarky attitude, and a father who just doesn't get them? Yeah, that's never been done before. Sure, Sunset is vegetarian from the outset (and thus diminishes Hiccup's character development by being leaps and bounds ahead of him), but still. You could be forgiven for believing she's Hiccup's clingy twin sister...especially since plot contrivances make them live in the same house most of the time.
Relationship Sue: Sunset gets the guy. Spoilers. On the bright side, Astrid is not derailed or killed off to accomplish this, but Sunset acts as the third wheel for all of Astrid and Hiccup's canon romantic scenes, which is almost as annoying. Not to mention, the fact that Sunset might as well be Hiccup's sister makes for uncomfortable implications.
Sympathetic Sue: Like Hiccup, Sunset has Daddy Issues. Her father, Moonlight (yes, that's really his name) is less "awkwardly misunderstanding but still good-hearted" and more "actively neglectful and abusive." However, this relationship is only barely glossed over...usually she's just butting into Hiccup and Stoick's scenes like what happened with Astrid.
Oh, and Moonlight (snerk) blames Sunset for the fact that her mother disappeared when she was small. Again, Does This Remind You of Anything??
Satellite Character: Sunset has no abilities, no talents, no purpose beyond "watch Hiccup be awesome." That is, when she's not acting as the...
Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Oh yes. Many of the things Hiccup figured out on his own in the movie he only figures out in this fic because of Sunset's direct intervention. She steals so many of his best lines that it hurts to read...does it to Astrid too. At times, she and Hiccup might as well be the same person...oh, wait, THEY ARE.
Also, the author claims to highlight all of the direct quotes she plagiarizes from the movie, but she's only about half right about that. Those quotes that are not stolen are paraphrased badly, which removes most of the movie's wit and humor.
The grammar and spelling is mostly okay, but that simply doesn't excuse how dull and pointless this fic is.
