While that might not be saying much considering that I haven't actually read that many Neutron fanfics, this fanfic is really a gem.
First off, the fic pays extreme attention to details, in that it creates its very own spin on the series and makes it work. Not only does it make it work, it makes it work in an extremely creative and interesting way. The world it creates lends itself greatly to the Darker and Edgier feel. It gives us and interesting look on how these characters might be if one of them had been a megalomaniac and had decided to become a dictator.
It pulls no punches about just how smart, genre savvy, and overpowering the villain is, but also pulls no punches about how powerful the heroes are. Another thing it plays well are the mental states of the characters especially the older versions of the characters we know and love.
The final battle takes up around 1/3 of the chapters and it is only made better for that. The villains lair is one of the best one's I've ever heard described, no spoilers here about it though.
The future versions of the characters are extremely believeable and even though they are changed, it's extremely understandable and appropriate given the obscene amount of tragedy and sorrow that they've gone through. Cindy's future self is given the spotlight for the most amount of time and she's portrayed extremely well. She's extremely smart (like in the show where's she's second only to Jimmy, a thing echoed here), determined and one of the best fighters in the whole universe.
The fic has an extraordinary amount of added content and details, if feels like the Lord of the Rings of fanfics in some cases for the sheer amount of details it gives to it's characters. The author has even written extra fanfics for filling in the gaps, even one that is basically an interview of the characters based on reviewers.
All in all, a real beauty of a fanfic that rarely pops up due to Sturgeon's Law. If you like good fanfics or were familiar with the series this was based on, GO READ THIS!!!
Seriously, you will not regret one iota that you read this. This is an extraordinarily good fanfic that the author put their all into and it really shows.
I give this story a 9-10/10, I might even go so far as to say that it's about as close to a perfect fanfic as you can get.
