An unusual, thought-provoking story which attempts to answer the question of how Azula became what she is despite the odds. It's a very intriguing premise, tying the interactions of characters together in different-than-normal interpretations which still work in the context of canon. Azula here is portrayed as a vey tragic figure, with a plausible explanation for how she could have grown apart from her brother and mother to become the tool Ozai desired - a tear or two will likely be spared for the young girl. The story also has a commendably plausible interpretation of Ozai, making him a more 'real' person than normal while still not presenting him as anything but a Complete Monster. The early interactions between the young Zuko and Azula are both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
