I am afraid I have some issues here, both with these comments and the ones below. USUK is still a perfectly plausible pairing, Word of God in the latest chapter. I quote, '...believe it or not, USUK is still a viable option.' As well as that, Alfred's being a jerk was completely understandable during the circumstances. Things were not going well for him at all. Though it is true that it is not planned out from start to finish, and this may or may not lessen the quality of the fanfiction, it is still a heartwrenching story with an amazing plot so far. I have enjoyed it immensely so far, and I have faith in the authors that the quality of their work will not fade.

Not to mention the characterization; Alfred has been derailed into a completely unlikable asshole. There are far too many Hetalia character cameos cluttering the story up, the plot would have been much smoother with a more sensible cast. And they started the story off categorizing it as and implying it to be USUK, which would get them a hefty amount of readers. Then they killed off the possibility of that happening. Then they kept implying that it could happen, even when it was obvious it couldn't, presumably to keep that pairing's fans from abandoning the story. And even told USUK fans to tell them how it could still work. It just seems like a dishonest and kind of cruel way to keep readers and get reviews, and this troper wasn't even rooting for that pairing.

I disagree. When I was reading this fic I couldn't help but think that even the authors themselves don't know how it is going to end and just make it up as they go. And this is one of the biggest no-no's for me, because of the risk that the plot will get derailed and the authors will forget what story they wanted to tell in the first place. But if one doesn't mind it, I guess this fic might be quite enjoyable...

Unsurprisingly, as it's by one of the authors of Seven Little Killers, this fic is brilliant. It's alternately dark and funny and heartwarming until you're not sure whether to laugh or cry, and it works. The characterization is beautiful; the author somehow manages to make the characters her own whilst keeping them true to their personalities. If she can make you feel sorry enough for Russia to want him to end up with America in a fic clearly marked with characters America and England, want Japan to have his crush on England requited, hopefully boosting his self-esteem, and be confused as to whether England would be better for Russia or America, she must have done something right. Well worth the length of time it may take you to finish.

From the word of God, the only certainties are that it won't be USUK, and there will be Prussia/Hungary...
Which stirred this troper up. Changing Alfred into an unlikeable character where Arthur has to run to someone else is annoying. Add the fact that she recently decided it would not be US/UK after baiting many readers, I would not recommend this.
