FanficRecs And this, boys and girls is what happens Behind the comedy.
Despite the poor choice of words and random grammar and spelling errors, this is a compelling story that shows what Ranma's life is like behind the scenes, and completely deconstructs the Hilariously Abusive Childhood trope.
I have to admit, it's refreshing to see Ranma finally retaliate instead of just sitting back and taking all the Tendo household shit that keeps being dumped on him, telling off Akane for one temper tantrum and irrational accusation too many, despite all he's done for her and the Tendo family. And Nibiki getting her soul yanked out, being sent to hell, and then made into Ranma's slave? Priceless. I can only hope Happosai gets fed to the sand-worm, and Genma gets some Karmic justice as well.
Oh. As for Hild, when you've managed to piss off the Queen of Hell, who routinely sentences child rapists to eternal punishment, by the level of your depravity? You've done goofed Tendos.
FanficRecs Hild makes a friend and everything goes to Hell
Like anything from Ozzallos, it's rife with simple errors that a good beta and proofreading would spot, features a girlified Ranma and runs from there. Also like a good Ozzallos fic, it's the narrative and the strength of characters which carry the story. While not immune to Flanderization and tends to run heavily on fanon characteristics for the cast, this also shows many of the consequences of it, as Nabiki learns the hard way.
FanficRecs Looney Toons' review
I should note that Ranma, as of the latest chapter, doesn't seem much more girlified than he already was at the corresponding point in canon; he's just more comfortable in girlform. There's a difference, although some may find it too subtle. Anyway, the story is less about "let's make Ranma a girl!" than it is about "Let's make Hild and Ranma find a surrogate family in each other".
FanficRecs Worth one look
As others have noted, the fic exists mostly to justify Ranma getting in touch with his girly side, and to showcase Hild being the unearthly beauty she is, in a way that seems both OOC and fairly exploitative of both. That said, the concept deserves at least one read through. The relationship between Ranma and Hild develops naturally and is genuinely heartwarming when the text isn't fixated on describing how hot they are together. Unfortunately the relationship only works by derailing other characters so that they can't properly interfere with it.
There are also a large number of crossover references. Some of them work, some of them don't. Like Fem!Ranma, this seems to be a staple of Ozallos' writing.
