FanficRecs Review
Well, it has its ups and downs. On one hand, it's has a really original setting with South-America, the Curse-Breaking, Spell-Casting in general, the action scenes and various alternate character interpretations like Bill Weasley and Snape. On the other hand, it has the worst Luna Lovegood I've ever read because it completely betrays what the character actually stands for. That person, despite her name, is not Luna. So, for a story that actually cites Luna as one of the main characters, possibly the love interest, it is kind of bad that it isn't Luna Lovegood. Then there is the whole Dumbledore/the Weasleys in general/Hermione is evil shtick which I personally dislike.
So, on a whole, it is worth reading if only for the truly original and creative parts of the story, but it has its fair share of problems that stops the story being as strong as "The Lie I've Lived".
FanficRecs A Matter of Perspective
This story starts by asking you what would you do if you had five minutes left to live. Just like that. It's narrated in the second person, you ARE Harry Potter, and this story is about you. The entire story is told in the second person, which takes a bit to get used to but does incredible things for the story itself because you are constantly aware in teh back of your mind that you don't know everything, you only know what Harry potter would know. And you become painfully aware of that fact as the story goes on.
I'm not going to talk about the story itself. I'm not going to talk about how it starts In Media Res, I'm not going to talk about the characterizations which are very much shaded by the narrator's preconceptions. Nor am I going to talk about how incredible the fight scenes are. And they are incredible. Action-packed and thrilling. I'm only going to tell you that the Second person perspective will be strange and uncomfortable at first, but it gets better very quickly.
