I've always enjoyed the random appearances of Granny Smith throughout the series, so when I heard this episode would be about her, I was excited. Fortunately, this episode did not dissappoint. Granny Smiths' weird antics were hilarious as always and the fact that there's an explanation of some of the weird things she does is great. I also found the new character, Filthy Rich, entertaining. The fact that there's a pony named Filthy Rich is funny in its own right, and made even funnier in a sort of tragic way by the fact that he seems like a decent enough guy. The fact that we also got to learn more about the history of Ponyville also makes this a good follow up to Hearth's Warming Eve, and framing it as a story of Granny Smith's childhood was a clever framing device. I also thought zap apples were also a good addition to the Fi M lore and fit in well with the fantasy theme. All in all, I thought this was a pretty good episode.
