  • Comments: Heartbreaking in a very stark, understated way. It's disturbingly plausible, almost inevitable; the use of Phillipa lets the reader deal with the pain over watching these characters' lives get destroyed and yet forces us to confront the moral issues with what they do. It's unflinching, beautifully crafted and excruciatingly painful in all the best ways.
