Master Ghandalf quickly became one of my favorite fanfic authors with his previous Avatar fics, and his new one is off to a great start. At four chapters at the time of this writing, he's already developed a quite interesting AU that's close enough to be recognizable, but offers plenty of opportunities for bigger divergences as the story goes on. Plus, he doesn't waste our time just retelling canon scenes; if anything is close enough for canon that we don't need to read it, then we don't have to, and it's simply summed up in one or two sentences instead.
