Plotless mess

If you or someone you know has ever watched an action movie and said that it was nothing but a plotless string of fight scenes, I have news for you: You ain't seen nothing yet. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is nothing but fight after fight after fight, with barely a splattering of plot to speak of. If you like this, well I suppose more's the better. But if you want, well, anything with your fight scenes, look elsewhere.

Ahahaha oh wow. If you want stuff besides action, why are you looking in visual media like cartoons and comics (especially ones that are about superheroes) in the first place?

Eponymous Kid: If you really think that superhero comics and cartoons are all nothing but mindless action, then you clearly have only watched and/or read this one. I'm not expecting some deep insights into the human condition (although comics and cartoons can convey those), but I am expecting more than what is essentially an hour long fight scene.

Oh, Christ, you're freaking kidding me. You don't even... Oh, wow. Comics are more my thing than any other medium, for one thing, and they have been since I was a kid. I'm practically a historian and an encyclopedia on the stuff - Hell, I've got torrents running right this very second for the entire Wildstorm and Vertigo DC imprints (well, except the stuff I don't like, but the point is it's a lot of stuff). I've got every issue of Ghost Rider and Aquaman and I used to have every issue of Daredevil before my laptop got busted.

Anyway, I admit I didn't really put forth a very solid argument. I guess I was a little upset; by and large, I consider Jeph Loeb's early Superman/Batman stuff to be the last good thing he ever did (you know, before the death of his son somehow sucked all the talent from his body). Well, that and I really love Ed Mc Guinness' art.

I'll also grant that the arc and the movie don't exactly have the most complicated plot you can imagine. And while I have my quibbles with it, I don't see what's not to enjoy.
