Impeccably plotted, just insanely good

"3 Idiots" offers a sublime example of an artwork committing to its message. All throughout the film, the message is clear: dressing up your words and actions in ways meant to be inaccessible to as many people as possible, to mark your perceived superiority, is dumb as hell. It doesn't make you better or smarter.

"3 Idiots" is the definition of an easy-to-watch, accessible film, but it's also plain smart. It's packed with excellent character moments and some impressive bits of foreshadowing. It's just so good. Unlike some pieces of media that try to deconstruct the pretences of the so-called intellectually superior (something that's more often than not very much linked to classism), "3 Idiots" does not fall into the trap of endorsing simpler language while keeping the film impenetrably dark and "highbrow." In short, it's a masterpiece with a light and earnest tone that's light and earnest for a good purpose, and does its job stunningly well. This is a movie that does not, as too many films do, foolishly fancy itself to be smarter than its viewers. Instead, it delivers the most satisfying product that it can (both in terms of craftsmanship and sincerity) while laughing along with the audiences.
