I can't recommend this one. The story is more-or-less sound, and I liked the changes that were made to the scenario of the big reveals in NERV headquarters, but there is way, way, way too much talking, and the conversations and dialogue just didn't work for me, at all. Also, the Rei/Shinji material was anywhere from off-putting to Squicky, and while the Asuka/Hikari dynamic was interesting, it was overridden by Asuka's OOC portrayal as a self-Woobie-ing (better trope description?) doom-sayer, which I thought was very irritating. Even though I didn't care for this, I wish that it had been finished, if for no other reason than all the buildup ends up grinding to a halt with no resolution of any sort.
