Heartbreak, thy name is Iphigenia.

This is one of the most heartbreaking stories I have ever read. A true pearl.

At barely 25000 words, this particular fanfic is much shorter than the ones I usually read, but having enjoyed ReganX's other The Tudors stories, I decided to give it a try. I don't regret it. The author makes no attempt to hide where the story is headed, so if what you wanted from fiction is to be surprised, this story is not for you. If, on the contrary, you find the journey more important, go ahead. Do note however that the theme of the story is not for everyone, and that this fanfic is titled Iphigenia for a reason.

Narrated by Thomas Boleyn, this story is an AU detailing what happens at court in the years following Anne's murder (murder, not execution) and up to Elizabeth's coronation. Before finally ending with a flashback of her death, the narration is woven with increasingly broader and unsubtle hints as to the identity of her murderer, which by no stretch of the imagination could possibly come as a surprise. The story is more of a character study of said murderer than anything, and explores both his motivation and his feelings after the act. It's... rather chilling, to be honest, but not in the way you would expect. I highly recommend you give it a try.
