Very orginal

The story takes inspiration from the source material but tells an original and deep story. It's worth noting that the story is told through dialogue. Descriptions of places and events may leave you wanting. There are typos scattered about here and there but I didn't find this very distracting and I enjoyed the dialogue story telling.

The familiar is an OC. A Sith Lord from The Old Republic era with deep inner conflicts. There are some very dark flashbacks of her Sith training as a child that are very disturbing and tie in with the overall plot. The main antagonist is also an OC and adds depth to the conflict.

There are deep flashbacks for other characters as well explaining their relationships and conflicts with each other. Most notably for Matilda. A flashback explains her origins and is quite a tear jerker. The conflict between Louise and Kirche is given more depth and is very well executed. Guiche also gets the spotlight and major character development making him a very interesting character.

Calista constantly struggles with her Sith training, natural instincts, and growing affection for the people she meets. Particularly her close friends Matilda and Montmorency. Her relationship with Louise starts off very casual, but Calista quickly establishes a Master/Apprentice relationship with her when she discovers that she is Force Sensitive.

Louise is a very different character in this. Her best friend is Siesta the maid. She looks up to the head chef Marteau as a father figure (A flash back about this was a big tear jerker). For reason which haven't yet been explored, her magic caused the same explosions we all know and love, but after the summoning began to weaken. Now she appears to no longer be capable of magic and becomes a Sith Apprentice to Calista. Louise actually gets development in this story. She learns hard lessons and doesn't always win. Even her victories tend to be less than ideal.

Derflinger also becomes an important character and is wielded by Louise. Their interactions are very heart warming. Julio got turned into a Jedi Knight and takes a very active role in the story. I can't go into it without spoiling things, but it's very interesting. Supporting and background characters get development too. Siesta, Marteau, Guiche, Montmorency, Matilda, Kirche, Colbert, Karin, Marianne, Henrietta, Julio, even Katie and Malicorne.
