As the author of this story, here's a big ass counter point: http://progmanx.tumblr.com/post/118377318876/guess-who-just-got-their-first-review-on-tvtropes
I hope you didn't take the tone of my review as negative (which it sounds like you did). Because I liked the story. Quite a bit. As for the "congratulatory speech", I meant the starting note at the beginning about Korrasami being canon, and that's just me. Please don't take this review as being overly negative or insulting.
Oh, no, I didn't take it as inherently negative or insulting at all. Just that middle paragraph, and the part where you suggested that people ~skip~ a part of the story I wrote despite it's massive importance to Asami's character arc and the entire thing thematically. Because it's part of the story. Which is why I very explicitly addressed all of that in my response. I'm curious as to your thoughts on the intro now that I've elaborated on what you found so annoying and jarring.
OK, you thought I was talking about the story. I was talking about this speech in the start of the notes before the story even begins.
"Anyway:
I started writing this around an hour after the finale last night. Once I was done crying. I never truly thought it would be canon-compliant. But it is. It happened. The S.S. Korrasami sailed through the Sea of Doubt and docked into Port Canon.
And I just can't stop smiling."
And to me, that came off as just...tacky and pointless. It wasn't necessary. And it felt like if you were a fan of any other relationship or disliked the way the relationships were handled, "GET OUT!" That's my issue. Maybe it's just me. I dunno.
It's just you.
You know what? Fine. If I get attacked for liking a story but finding an intro off putting, then I don't want to read it anymore.
