Heckraiser

Honestly, this could've been worse; if you're a Highlander fan who suffered through The Source, you know what I mean.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a particularly well-made movie, and you don't need to know the story behind the production to realize that it was never even intended to be a particularly well-made movie.

That being said, I still think it's worth a watch, if only once. I do not believe in the "it's a good game/movie/book/etc if you just turn your brain off" excuse for a low-quality production, but a low-quality production can still be interesting to watch. It's a "good" bad movie to watch for the sake of looking at it from a critical standpoint because the pacing is decent so it's not an exercise in boredom. Those with fond memories of the original should definitely give this one a go just for the sake of the script; the way its patterned after the first movie's plot but with different outcomes to certain plot points and how it retains the Cenobytes' original motivations will leave one wishing this had turned into an actual remake/reboot as intended instead of being dumped into the the ash can.

I wouldn't even call it the worst in the series. It's not bugnuts like Pinhead in Spa- I mean, like Bloodline or paced at the speed of a glacier like Deader, or cheesy as all hell like Hellworld, although Hellworld similarly has a few redeeming features like Lance Henrikson getting his villain on and the scene with Pinhead at the end. I never cared for Hell on Earth as much as some do because the Motive Decay just took me completely out of it so I'd even put Revelations over that one, but I'm definitely a minority in that opinion (if not in all of these opinions.)

tl;dr: Despite everything wrong with it, this movie is at the very least interesting to watch, very much despite itself.
