World works on the premise of smaller gateways between Gensokyo and the outside. If I hadn't already been aware of this being a Touhou fanfic, it could have easily fooled me for a published novella. The atmosphere is that complete. Also has a lemon-baked epilogue on the Archive of Our Own version, for those interested in such prose.
