This is a very, very good piece of fanfiction to say the least. Don't be too put off by the ship, it makes a lot more sense than most people like to admit - unless you are homophobic (in that case, just leave).
Shigeru/Gary may appear to differ a lot from his anime counterpart but it is very well sown together. The characters are completely in character and any character development is explained. It's also very well written.
The romance feels more natural. It isn't contrived and makes sense (although the relationship does have a very sudden and dramatic shift). The story is very well compartmentalized and builds the story up in an interesting way.
It can get incredibly addictive! Try not to read this all at once at night (unless you have enough caffeine to keep you energized throughout the night).
