Tom and Jerry: The Movie review

Alright, let's get into the problems with this film. Tom and Jerry is a classic slapstick comedy series heralding from The Golden Age Of Animation, popular for it's violence, comedic timing and beautiful animation.

This movie however, has none of that. Very little slapstick, direct to video quality animation, and a cliche plot made just to shamelessly cash in on the Disney Renaissance. It's bad enough our duo are voiced here full time but also with the most annoying voices possible. The movie isn't funny, the pathos are contrived and forced, and the musical numbers are horribly written.

To say this film sucks is like saying fish enjoy swimming. But don't take my word for it-the film was panned by critics on release, only holds a measly 16% "rotten" rating on the tomatometer, and barely made up it's measly 3 million dollar budget upon release.

Rating: 1/10. A disgrace to the whole series.

I remember loving this movie when I was younger. OF COURSE, this was before I was fully aware of the shorts.

Looking back, why did those alley cats have a song if they were pretty much in the film for the duration of their song?
