Card games are serious business.

I enjoyed watching Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series, so I decided to read the manga.

I was expecting to have some stupid crap about friendship and card games and the power of love.

That's not what happens.

Evil Yugi has straight up killed people. Over children's games. Over a pair of sneakers. He once set a bunch of guys on fire. Why? I can't remember. It was probably because he was cold or something. Evil Yugi is a god amongst men. Evil Yugi is my hero.

I give the manga two thumbs up.

You forgot the times when he turned a bully delusional and insane so he would misinterpret everything as being money, made Kaiba experience hell for one night, made a guy as good as blind, electrocuted several bullies and tried to kill Mokuba with a poisoned hamburger.

I had a similar experience, I watched the anime, thought it was just a 25 minute advertisment, and mocked a lot of people who were obsessed with it.

Then I read the manga, and yeah, its practically like a fanfic of the show written by someone who wanted to make Evil Yugi actually Evil and 200% more Awesome than God. I mean its just amazing how so much awesome got cut in the transition to animation.

That's because the manga is not the same as the anime, Little Kuriboh makes fun of yugioh but mostly of the Fox Kids' version (invisible guns), though some of those stuffs were in the original and you can't deny a series where a children's card game is constantly a life and death thing isn't an easy target. The first manga is very dark.
