First off, let me admit that I have a thing for secret competence. Or, you know, competence in general. This fic gives us two very competent characters. I love the idea that Bond and Q (well, pre-Q "Mike Taylor" in this case) build a relationship via phone interactions long before they meet face-to-face. The writers manage a good balance of drama, humor and both sexual and action/adventure tension. The characters have depth and dimension — probably more then they do in the film. Over all, a very solid, enjoyable fic that stands up to rereading.
