There have been a multitude of short stories and one-shots (two-shot in this case) following the release of Dark Dawn, that attempt continuity or to fill plot holes. But what really makes this one shine is that it's one of the few stories—not only Dark Dawn-compliant, but generally in the fandom—that strives to take its characterization and conclusions strictly from an in-game context. It does not seek to guess at Arcanus' and the Tuaparang's motives. It does not attempt to anticipate the long-term effects of the game's end on Amiti or anyone else. Most notably, it is one of the few works that does not recast Alex as a homicidal maniac.
Instead, this fic takes the implied in-game conclusion that Alex is Amiti's father as well as Kraden's comments concerning said 'traitor's loyalties, and runs with it—wherever those foundations may lead. The result is a rare flower, and worth a read.
