I think the story shot itself in the foot pretty early on by having the big-league heroes like Mario and Link somehow be the first people killed. That just seems not only unrealistic, but anticlimactic. These are the people you want to see make it to the end game and duke it out. Plus weird details such as trying to make Young Link the younger brother of Adult Link is just... weird and dumb. If you aren't going to keep to the characters, why write them? That combined with the fact that one of the murderers is an original character and not one of the suspects, along with the author telling us this early on made me just drop the page.
