This work does something with the fourth wall that is very rarely seen in Anime fanfics. For that matter, it is very rarely seen for anything besides the Harry Potter books, specifically. What it does is have the characters watch the anime that they are a part of. No more, no less.
Since the characters at no point acknowledge themselves to be fictional, or even the existence of an audience, this is *not* breaking the fourth wall. While lampshading is present, it is not primarily that either. It is not a literary agent hypothesis, a "and that person is me", a fourth wall mailslot, sitting atop the fourth wall, or anything else that I've heard of or is present on this site.
I propose a new name for this type of metaphysical fanfic: "Silvering the Fourth Wall". ('Mirroring' just sounds worse). This occurs whenever characters read their own book/comic, watch their own anime/cartoon/show/movie/musical,
play their own game, or anything of a similar nature......but do not explicitly break the fourth wall by referring to themselves as fictional.

Having said that, this work is also very good in its own right. There is a definite larger plotline, rather than simply "what fun can we have by watching these episodes"? Everybody stays in character, but many background events are filled in. It updates frequently, about once a week, at over 10,000 words per update! It is at various times entertaining, funny, sad, and even talks about some big ideas. If "Silvering the Fourth Wall" ever becomes a commonly accepted fanfic trope (it totally should!), this story will be the gold standard.
