The new trailer with Sonic's new redesign has launched and everyone seems to LOVE it. I think it's safe to say we can add in Author's Saving Throw and Win Back the Crowd now.

Agreed. I, for one, have definitely upgraded the movie from, "Not if you paid me," to "OK maybe I'll go see it."
Author's Saving Throw should wait for release. Positive reception to trailers is Win Back The Crowd.
Is it okay to add a parody of "Gangsta's Paradise" performed by the Sonichu author in Hilarious in Hindsight? Not because of the lyrics, but because of the "band" itself, known as "the Hedgehog Boys".

The movie has officially been delayed to Valentine's Day next year. The reaction has been positive, as it means the crew is addressing the criticisms of crunching the animators and tries a compromise.

Something else to add to the Memetic Mutation part: people joking that Coolio — who famously considered "Gangsta's Paradise" to be too serious a song to be parodied by "Weird Al" Yankovic — is now suddenly okay with the song being used in a Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

Definitely has to be the funniest Hilarious Hindsight especially since Coolio did made a big deal about it at the Grammys if I remember correctly.

I noticed that a lot of people online are complaining about the use of Gangster's Paradise by Coolio as the trailer music, with many people saying that using it in something "kid-friendly" like Sonic undercuts the song's dark tones. Is there a way we can add this as a YMMV trope here?

I'd say it's more that Gangsta's Paradise just ... has nothing to do with Sonic, and is way too slow-paced of a song for a character built around how fast he can go.

So this might be a weird idea, but do you think we should make a separate YMMV page for the pre-redesign YMMV (Locked of course) (though keeping some YMMV for still relevant stuff on this page like Jim Carrey singing I Am The Walrus)
