Not that I would be the most informed on the topic, but how do we know exactly that the game's sales are owed to the boycott giving it free publicity?
Eat bread, make sandwiches, know what I'm saying? Hide / Show RepliesI've rephrased a little, to 'despite' rather than 'because of'. It seems fair to say that it raised the game's profile, though?
- shrug* legitimately hard to tell with a game whose profile is this big.
We can at least agree that the boycott didn't work as boycotters intended it to. Many publications have been running articles on it to highlight how the boycott is hurting everyone but Rowling, for example how they bullied Girlfriend Reviews just for streaming the game and even got their (GF Reviews) subreddit and reddit accounts shut down with false accusations of them promoting violence, again giving it more attention even on non-videogame publications who are covering the situation, example: https://thesportsrush.com/trying-to-speak-out-against-racism-and-transphobia-has-costed-us-girlfriend-reviews-on-hogwarts-legacy-review-backlash/
Could we get additional context on the memetic mutation Sirona thing? I may just be stupid but I don't understand what's on the nose about it.

In the editing history, I saw a Troper by the name of dvx105 ask what Kingsley Shacklebolt's name has to do with being Black, so I'll answer their question here. Many have interpreted his last name to be an allusion to Black slavery due to it containing the word "shackle".
Personally, I think it's an allusion to him being an Auror. Handcuffs are a kind of shackle, after all.
I'm not interested in arguing Unfortunate Implications, however. I just wanted to clarify why at least some people have taken offense to Kingsley's last name.
