Seems like the Satako culprit theory of Gou is complicated.
Looks like Rika inadvertently caused a mass despair event when she left, affecting Satako the most.
Its implied Satako is likely being manipulated by a witch. Probably Bernkastel given she’s done this exact thing before.

Is it safe to classify Satoko (Gou/Sotsu) as a Complete Monster? As of now, she has become a straight up sociopath, and her relationship with Rika and all of her other friends just seem to be increasingly superficial.
The ending is not an Ass Pull, if we assume the following to be true:
1. Lambdadelta was the dominant personality in Episode 1-17 of Gou and Ep 1-13 of Sotsu the whole time. There are hints of this in the final episodes of Gou. Made worse in Episode 10 of Sotsu (placed around episode 13 of Gou.
2. What Hanyuu did with her act of purification also involved pushing Lambdadelta back into the recessive personality of Satako’s mind. This also has the effect of being linked to Lambdadelta being less malevolent in Umineko.
