I am just pondering if it's a trope to keep in mind once the season is over. And also need a good way to word it, that doesn't sound like complaining.

If it doesn't contribute to the main story in any meaningful capacity, then yes, it qualifies.
Does Kwan's story count as Trapped by Mountain Lions? Because for the most part, most people don't really care for her nor her story.
