Personally, I think Ace qualifies as a woobie of sorts. Unable to ever win the love of his crazy wife, said wife's daughter kidnapping antics, Nicky being an axe-crazy loose cannon, local politics etc ...he just wanted to run a semi-legit casino and in the end he ended up back where he started despite his best efforts.
Well, I ceretainly felt sorry for him.
