That attack, however, looks and acts like a poison shot from say, a cobra.
The article states that the pirates do not use guns. While it is true that most of them are without firearms, and none of them drop any sort of guns as loot, the Pirate Cutthroat does indeed have an attack called 'pistol shot'. While guns are not normally a part of Tibian lore there are exceptions here and there.
