The In Name Only section needs to be deleted. The author seems to have missed that this is a prequel (as another troper has already pointed out). Yes, the backstory of the game is expanded, but it is not crudely retconned - in fact, the events of the game very much foreshadow what is to come.
I have edited in several passages (and added Foreshadowing and Prequel tropes) to underline the game's nature as a prequel and to show the connections.
