Seems like a Wild Mass Guess to me. I don't think there's enough evidence to say that it's a spiritual successor. If you really think so, though, go for it.
There is an easier way to lose
Should anyone be so sure to label this a Spiritual Successor a TMNT game? There one reviewer on You Tube that was able to draw the similarities of River City Ransom to Scott Prilgrim VS. The World: The Game better than the TMNT game, to the point where Scott Pilgrim The Game is worth being a spiritual successor to River City Ransom.
