I'm not entirely sure if we should use the trope "Disowned Adaptation" for the trivia about the killer seeing the film. "Disowned Adaptation" usually only refers to when an original work's creator or subject does not approve of an adaptation of the work. Saying that the serial killer "disowned" this film makes it seem as if he is a creator on par with other creators, which is at the very least odd, and at worst, could be seen as elevating him to a position that he does not deserve. Is there another trope that would fit this bit of trivia better?
