  • Massive Race Selection: 14 available in the base game alone. Standard expansions add 10 more, Underground has another 15, and the Ghosts from the promo scenario Necromancer's Island make the current total a whopping 40. Not counting non-race tokens like the Dragon, Great Old One or Balrog. As ever, though, many of these could be different human cultures (as well as regular Humans there are Gypsies, Barbarians, Priestesses, Cultists, Sorcerers, Wizards, Amazons, Pygmies, Shadow Mimes) and there are several closely-related races (Dwarves and Iron Dwarves, Elves and Drow, undead Ghosts and Ghouls and Skeletons and Liches and Mummies and White Ladies).

This trope was redefined: different cultures of the same species don't count, and the trope requires 6 distinct species as playable options with separate game mechanics. Please check to see if this example is still valid, and take out mention of the different cultures.

The numbers are way lower if you don't count multiple human cultures, but it's still far greater than 6.
