Why didn't Robb Stark sentence Lord Karstark to death regarding his murder of the guards versus the children? We clearly see Karstark and his men happily gutting through Northerners in their bid to reach the Lannister squires. That would serve as a more publicly palatable reason for the execution.

I see. But isn't it strange that there is almost no mention at all of the northern guards' death at the hands of the Karstarks? Personally I would have flung that right in Karstark's uptight face.
"Adapted Out: A rather bizarre mass occurrence. In the books, Karstark forces are never depicted as a particularly large portion of the army, while in the series they apparently comprise "half" of Robb's forces. Since houses Umber, Bolton, Reed, and Mormont have important roles in the series, and Manderly and Glover have at least been mentioned, that means that either Karstark has been made vastly more powerful or all of the above have suffered from inexplicably disappearing armies."
Anyone else wanna chalk this one up to hyperbole?
