Shouldn't "Santa Claus" here be "Father Christmas"? I'm American, but... just sayin'...
"Freedom is not a license for chaos" -Norton Juster's The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics Hide / Show RepliesWasn't he listed as Santa Claus, though, in the main credits? I appreciate different regionalities, but that's what the character is named in the show. *shrugs*
The words "Santa Claus" appeared on the screen, and maybe said by the Doctor, so it would be more appropriate to use it.
OK, I added "Idiot Ball" to the list... I probably shouldn't. It seems kind of... edit-war-inviting. I'm sorry. It's just... the amount of stupidity displayed by every single character in that one scene... come on. They have Missy right next to the TARDIS? With nothing holding her but a pair of handcuffs? And the guards behind her don't do anything when she raises her hands up to show that the cuffs are off??? COME ON!!!!
And, Osgood... Your prisoner is escaping. Aren't you supposed to call somebody when that happens?
Edited by 71.239.134.11 Hide / Show RepliesThough you make a number of points regarding Missy, there is something you missed; the Doctor needed to use the key to get into it when he's falling towards the ground. That rather implies Missy couldn't have gotten in because it was locked.
The guards, mind, do seem to be props there; I was half expecting them to be mesmerized or something. As for Osgood not doing much, well, to be fair, she was under threat by the Mistress, rattled, and really not good in a combat situation. She was even somewhat close to talking her way out of death when the Mistress...well, went Joker on her. People tend to forget obvious things when terrified, and Osgood was definitely in a bad spot.
True. But the UNIT people didn't know if maybe Missy had some kind of technobabble TARDIS-lockpick. But more importantly: Osgood should simply have not been in the same room as Missy. Why did UNIT stick her in that room? "Oh, we have the most dangerous person on the planet as our prisoner. Let's put a scientist with no combat training in there with her." Yeah.
Uh, it said in the main text that Clara learned the various trivia she sprouts about the Doctor from being inside his timestream, but it has already been established in Dot D that she barely remembers any of that, to the point that she didn't even recognize Ten or the War doctor untill Eleven explained them, and even with promting, could only remember them "a little bit". It's unlikely that she retained any details.
The most likely explanation for how she knows about his family and marriages (and Jenny) is that he simply spilled it to her at some point, or that she pieced it together from his ocassional vague mentions. I've just changed it to a more neutral [even with the detailed knowledge] "...she's picked up over time..." for now, but feel free to add/improve on that.
