Are these characters well known enough for the trope title to be clear?
I have been wondering for some time if one significant variation on the Betty and Veronica theme is not missing here (probably falling into the "Deconstructing" category), namely "Betty IS Veronica". In this subtrope, Bob would be torn between his nice-but-ever-so-slightly-dull girlfriend and the mysterious new femme fatale who caught his attention lately, although he has not yet figured out much about her, and who, predictably enough, will eventually turn out to be none else than his girlfriend in (deliberate or accidental) disguise. I do realise this is basically a gender-reversed Clark Kent situation, perhaps there is some Clark Kent-named trope that covers this?
