X-23 doesn't "go berserk" like Logan. In fact it's explicitly established in canon that she does not lose control like he does, and always remains tightly focused and with a firm reign on her temper. The Trigger Scent is not only the result of deliberate conditioning by the Facility, she only ever falls into that state when exposed to the trigger. Furthermore, despite popular misconception, Laura does not kill indiscriminately when exposed to the trigger. All she does is focus all her energy on making the marked target dead, to the point that when possible she ignores other potential targets and bystanders in favor of the marked one. She also still demonstrates all her usual tactical and strategic acumen and threat assessment. For example, when her cousin Megan and Facility plant Desmond Alexander were both exposed, she ignored Megan and went after Alexander first even though Megan was the closest and most convenient target, because Alexander presented the biggest threat.
