I'd question the validity of the The Matrix Revolutions example. While Smith does want both to fight and to infect Neo, there's no longer anything forcing him to do either, and Neo has no other practical way to completely clean him out of the system he's effectively holding hostage. So Smith also can win (as much as And Then What? allows - at the least he can make Neo lose) by doing absolutely nothing.
